Often builders will cut costs by using materials readily available to them at cheaper costs. Most common is the use of bricks to create a brick sill. Over time water will find its way into the many brick joint seams and the bricks will begin to decay.

At Breslau Masonry we encourage the use of limestone sills cut to length to fit any size window or door. Creating a seamless look which allows water to shed off the window appropriately.

Parging is the layer of mortar applied over the foundation to provide a more aesthetically pleasing look. Often over time parging can begin to crack and deteriorate as moisture finds its way in.

Repairing parging involves the complete removal of the failing parging. Cleaning and prepping the foundation and re applying a new coat of mortar. There are numerous designs and finishes that can be applied to offer a custom look.

Over time houses will begin to settle. As they do you may notice cracks that form in the mortar joints that hold the masonry units together. Although its not a structural issue in most cases it can lead to moisture or insects entering the building envelope. It can also be unaesthetically pleasing to the eye.
